comparison the theme of love

finally i've choose the topic for my research paper. i've choose to write about the comparison the theme of love in the novel great expectation and sense and sensibilty. however, i have to make topic more specific in order to make me easier to narrow down the points. the topic was accpeted and i have to start writing on my research papes since the due date is become closer and closer.

research paper

i have to meet with miss alicia and miss amylia regarding the research paper. i am supposed to give the topic of the research paper but i still have no idea on what am i going to write. it seems like some of my friends have their own topic and they have given the 1st draft to miss alicia. so, i have to go back and think about the topic of my research paper.

Precious

Claireece “Precious” Jones is a 16-year-old African American girl living in Harlem in 1987 although ‘barely surviving’ seems to be a better way of describing her situation rather than ‘living’. Precious is obese, illiterate and pregnant with her second child as a result of being raped by her father. Living with her physically, psychologically and sexually abusive mother, Precious desperately needs some way of escaping from her world. That opportunity comes in the form of an alternative school and although the full extent of Precious’s woes are yet to come, the supportive classmates and inspirational teacher Precious meets gives her the chance she needs to break free. What makes Precious bearable are the moments of warmth, hope and humour that are delivered mainly during the scenes with Precious’s teacher and classmates. Unfortunately Daniels doesn’t seem to be confident enough in the material to allow such scenes to speak for themselves so he has littered Precious with small Magic Realist touches and fantasy sequences where Precious imagines herself in various glamorous situations
Even though I love the story line of this movie, but the language is still not appropriate and it is kind of harsh words used in this movie.

Finding Forrester

I do think that Finding Forrester is the nice and interesting movie to watch. Although it's difficult to imagine writing as a dramatic activity, Connery makes it seem so in the challenging role of a reclusive novelist mentoring a gifted student. I think this is a moving, meaningful story. The relationship between Connery and Brown is powerful enough to sustain the story. Both of these characters really make this movie lively. Thanks for the great movie.

an evening with mr.vaheed

With KFC boxes, Mr Vaheed come to class. We were really excited. Mr Vaheed gave a lecture on Effective Argumentation writing that day, an extra info for us in writing our position paper. It’s really important since we are having our position paper to be presented. Tq mr Vaheed.

Chalk

The film takes the course of an entire school year and describes three teachers and one assistant principal. Mr. Stroope is campaigning for Teacher of the Year but many of his students are a little bit smarter than him. Mr. Lowrey is an introverted history teacher struggling to find passion for his profession. Coach Webb (played by Janelle Schremmer) is a female gym teacher who is struggling to get her students to take her class seriously, and becomes interested in Mr. Lowrey. Mrs. Reddell (Shannon Haragan) is the first year assistant principal who is regretting leaving teaching. However, I think that some of the language used in this film are not appropriate to show to students.

The Ron Clark Story

This movie is very emotional. I have watched this movie during tutorial class. The Ron Clark Story tells the life of North Carolina grade school teacher. I was really impressed with the character played by Matthew Parry. Ron Clark moved to a tough city of New York to find a teaching job and he got job at Inner Harlem elementary school. The students in this school are graded according to their potential.
I was sad when Tashaun's foster father beat him. I mean, it was "his" room, and he needed to express himself. I especially liked how Ron Clark thought of fun activities helping ADD kids pay attention and learn.
The way Ron Clark deal with his students make this movie more interesting. The students, who at first refused to co-operate started to accept him after seeing his efforts in helping them. And all of his efforts are worthy when all of his students get the good result for the examination.

Akeelah and the Bee

The movie is about Akeelah Anderson, an 11 years old girl from south Los Angeles. This is a very entertaining movie on a girl’s passion on spelling. I can say that she’s born with a gift for words. Her passion and dedication to the game of spelling bee made her champion of the national spelling bee competition even though her mother was against her at the early part. This has taught me something that can be applied not only as being a teacher, but also as an individual. To be good in something, one needs to have a great passion for it.

I really love this movie as it portrayed that we are powerful if we think we are. Human have talents in various field and all we need to do is just discover them for our own good.

monalisa smile

Julia Roberts played the main character in this movie. The setting of this movie is in 1953, the time when women’s role were rigidly defined, free spirited teaching at all female Wellesley College. Played the role as Professor Katherine Watson, she starts teaching in the college with the environment where success is measured by how well the students marry. As a teacher, she is always encouraging her students to study in order to become a professional in their career. The story revolved Watson with her students - Elizabeth "Betty" Warren, Giselle Levy, Constance "Connie" Baker and Joan Brandwyn. Watson chooses to leave after one year and as she is leaving the campus, her students follow her car, to show their affection. Watson shows that the teacher who never gives up with their students will succeed in his or her mission and the students will love the students that can change them become a good person.

arranged marriage

what is arranged marriage? to answer this question, dr. jaya has asked us to find any article that related to arrange marriage. then we need to discuss it during class. there are lots of idea and opinion come out during the discussion. it is quite interesting because we can sit together in group and discussed about it in many different point of view. at the end of the discussion, my group was conclude that there are lots of races in this world which still practising arranged marriage which for me it is a traditional style to choose a husband or wife.

~Lean on Me~

The movie is about Joe Clark, an arrogant teacher a principal at Eastside High School in Paterson, New Jersey. Clark has to fight against the city official that threatens to undo all his efforts. He tries to stop the government from taking control of the school. Even the teachers and his own boss resented and doubted him, the kids still loved him. He finally turned Eastside around and appearing on the cover of Time Magazine and become a national symbol of tough-love education. Clark always tell his students to not blaming on their background if they didn’t succeed in their life.

I think this movie was interesting even though the way Clark control the school is quite “extreme”.

fable....

sequence.
This time we need to create our own fable during tutorial class. The fable must be modern but it has to show the morality and good deeds. This task need to done in group and I was joining Amir, Khairul and Fazzli. Our group is lucky to have Khairul because he is good in drawing. After discussing the fable that we will draw, we finally choose to use the story of vampire. The story is about the little vampire disobey his mother and got burnt by the sun. Even though it is the simple fable but it is quite unique because we didn’t provide the dialogue.

Saieen Zahor vs Lady Gaga

I remember that Dr. Jaya showed us two music videos. One is Toomba by Saieen Zahoor and the second is Lady Gaga’s Alejandro. This is the first time I’m watching the video of Saieen Zahoor. It is a nice song to listen even it is quite a traditional type of music.
The second video was Alejandro by Lady Gaga. We were only told to listen to the song since there were “inappropriate” scenes in the music video. I’m not sure what the “inappropriate” scenes are but when I myself found the video of the song and watch it, I think nothing is “inappropriate”.Maybe Br. Jaya has his own reason for not showing us the video.
I must say that I enjoy both of the song shown by Dr. Jaya and as always he choose the interesting song and video to shown to us.

Drow Games

For tutorial class with Miss Amelia and Miss Alicia, we were asked to go to the RC. We have been divided into two groups. One group has to come at 2-3 and the other group has to come at 3-4. And I was in the first group. I was wondering what my friends and I will do in the RC. But I was really excited to hear that we just have to play an internet game called Drow Games.

But we have to register first before we start to play the game. For this game, I have to play with my friends because this game needs me to compete with my partner. Basically it is the word game and the word ‘drow’ itself comes from ‘word’. We need to collect as many points as we can. The winner will get the ipod and other prizes. So, all of us are really excited to play this game and get the prizes.

PRPI...

I went to an exhibition at Dewan Besar. This is the exhibition of research doing by the researchers in UPM. I was attracted to lots of new products that have been created. One of the products that attract my attention was the smart car. I’m also attracted to the drow games. Well done Dr. Jaya. So proud of you.
